Web Designers Cannot be Artists

There are a two schools of thought around web design and the ability to craft works of art for a client.  Some feel that the time, effort, talent and inspired genius that goes into creating a website are rarely recognised as being worthy of the title of 'Art'.


I however believe that a 'real' web designer can never be an artist, here is what I mean...

Add a Wrap Around Banner in Photoshop CS4

An effective way of adding special offer information, or basic pricing is often the use of a splash banner, usually a diagonal stripe with the message or call to action.  By creating a more three dimensional version this can dramatically improve the appearance of the banner - with minimal additional design effort.

How to Create a Favicon

For the sake of simplicity, this article assumes you are using an already created image for your icon.  Please note that forclarity the image you select for your favicon should be a square.  Remember it will be reduced to 16 x 16 pixels and non square images will become distorted.
