Have you been scattering Christmas Cheer across your advertising and website? If not you are missing a trick. Savvy marketeers will have been preparing for this yuletide season for several months...
By tying in product launches, special offers and simply amending standard header graphics to match the season you can win over your audience. A feeling of interaction is created by making simple changes to a site or ad campaign.
Think how often people discuss the latest Google logo, and for those who haven’t seem them here is a link to all Google logos from the past. Who wouldnit want that for their brand? Coca Cola stole santa through smart advertising, replacing the traditional green santa with one more pleasing to their branding.
Now whilst I don't suggest stealing the easter bunny, although Cadbury's have done sterling work this year with their sexy bunny, wearing design clobber no less, you can easily match the season with some simple graphic amends.
The most important part however is timing and planning. Get your marketing head on early and I mean at least two months BEFORE the event. This allows time for your graphics, print and web guys to work their magic and also allows any special online offers to have been found by the search engines.
Don't forget your newsletters in this whirlwind of activity. Remember to maintain your brand consistency across all customer touch points. A newsletter offering a seasonal service or discount, making sure to theme any discount codes to the season too, will always be recieved more favourably than the same old same old version.
So whilst the rest of the world is celebrating the midwinter festivals you should already be thinking of romance with Valentines just around the corner ;0)
