It happens to even the best of us - we have deleted the source file containing the module positions for our Joomla template, or even worse we are using a template where the designer forgot to include a module map. What next?
The long winded way around is to experiment with publishing content in different locations until you have re-created the map manually, which I confess I have done in my early days of working with Joomla. However there is a much faster solution, no need to return to the developer with an embarrasing request for support, search back through demo sites or in the worst case re-install sample data.
There is a very simple way to see all module positions in a Joomla template. Add the following to the end root page of any joomla site to be shown an overview of ALL module positions even when not published or without content.
?tp=1
Yup it really is that simple. To see all module positions on the core Joomla.org site follow this link... http://www.joomla.org/?tp=1
I really hope this tip saves you time and frustration.
